Jane Burden Morris (1839-1914)
T he daughter of an Oxford groom, Jane Burden, or 'Janey' as she became known, first came into the Pre-Raphaelite circle in 1857, when Gabriel Rossetti and William Morris were painting the Oxford Union Murals. She married William Morris in 1859.
